Hello friends, today I am going to discuss a topic which almost everyone is aware of that is "EVE-TEASING". Let me get straight to the point In India, we have one basic mindset about the word eve-teasing when we hear this word what many of us thinks that it must be the fault of the girl or she must have given some hint to the guy or even people criticize that she must have dressed inappropriately. These are some points on which we start judging a girl or a woman by blaming only her though we all know that our society is full of hypocrites and narrow-minded people our country India is developing but the mentality of some people is still the same. In India we pray and give lots of respect to the goddess who is women but when it comes to women I don’t understand where that respect disappears.
Being a woman, I have faced these issues in my daily life in some or another way. We women are always harassed and dominated by men. Let me tell you about an incident that has happened in my life that time I was in my schooling period (Class 11) I used to travel by Metro rail to my school, as it was convenient for me. One day I was coming back from school I was in school uniform and was waiting for my train to come there I saw a man almost double of my age was continuously staring at me and by seeing him I got a bit uncomfortable so I thought to better ignore him then my train came and I went inside what I found that the same person also step onto the same train and was looking at me. As our family and elder person have taught us that it’s better to avoid these types of person and keep your head down and do not give reply to them so, was doing the same. Then I was just waiting for my stop to come so that I can quickly get out of the situation. Guys you won’t believe when the stop came I step out of the train and that person also did the same. I was just trying to think positively that this must be a coincidence and he is not following me but going his own way. But I was wrong as he was following me, on the road when I tried to walk at speed he also did the same and then I suddenly slow down, what I saw is he also did the same and stopped for me I was badly shivering with fear and nothing was coming in my mind that what should I do. As he was following me I tried to escape and went inside a building which was near to me so that he can’t find me. I saw from the building that he was searching for me, I waited there for a while till the time that person left and ran to my house. This incident left a deep fearful impact on me.
The reason for telling you my story is that, the mistake that I have committed you should not do the same try to inform the police/traffic police so that they can help you. And to you guys, I just want to say that it is not always the fault of a woman so stop blaming us for the clothes we wear or for anything else as you need to change your mentality. As the reason why people do these types of behaviour is because of the decadence of social values and lack of proper family and moral education and the misuse of technology.
Teasing girls and women, passing comments, harassing them verbally or physically, and troubling them purposely are the things that we face in our daily life. Please understand this and support us not blame us.
